Wali Allah Sheikh Moinuddin Chisti: His Karamah (Miracle) !

Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin's first miracle in Ajmer Sharif:

When Khwaja Saheb arrived in Ajmer with his few followers and wanted to camp under a bunch of shady trees outside the city wall near Anderkot, Raja Prithviraj's camel-keepers arrogantly objected to his stay there. They insisted that the place was used as the stabling ground for the Raja's camels and that the strangers must move away to some other place. So the Khwaja Saheb had the first taste of racial prejudice in Ajmer. He, however gracefully moved away to another site near the Anasagar lake. But when the Raja's camels did not get up next morning inspite of all efforts to make them move, the trouble was brought to the notice of Raja Prithviraj. He was much perturbed and is reported to have advised his men to approach Khwaja Saheb whom they had turned out from that place and seek the remedy by begging his pardon. When the camel-keepers did so, the Khwaja Saheb said: "Go, the camels would get up." On their return, they were simply surprised to find the camels standing.

ANASAGAR IN MASHKIZA:

Once in Ajmer, the soldiers of Raja Prithviraj chauhan in their subdued grudge refused to let his followers have water from the Anasagar lake. Upon this the Khwaja Saheb asked a follower to fetch some water in a Mashkiza (a small bag for carrying water) from the lake.As he filled the Mashkiza, the water of the whole Anasagar lake mysteriously disappeared into it miraculously. This miracle caused an unprecedented awe and consternation in the city.

Ana Sagar Lake is an artificial lake situated in the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan state in India. It was built by Arnoraja (alias Ana), the grandfather of Prithviraj Chauhan, in 1135 -1150 AD and is named after him. The catchments were built with the help of local populace. The lake is spread over 13 Kilometers. The Baradari or pavilions were built by Shahjahan in 1637 and Daulat Bagh Gardens by Jehangir. There is a Circuit house on a hill near the lake that used to be British Residency. There is an island in the center of the lake which is accessible by boat. Boats could be hired from the east side of the Dault Bagh. There are Chowaptty and Jetty walkway next to each other and Baradari to capture the scenic of the lake. The lake is the biggest one in Ajmer, with the maximum catchments area (5 square km built up area). The maximum depth of lake is 4.4 m with storage capacity of 4.75 million cubic meter. The Rajasthan High Court has banned construction in the catchment areas of the lake basins.

Legend of Auliya Moinuddin Chishti When the Muslim saint Moinuddin Chishti arrived in Ajmer, he and his followers were banned from using water from Ana Sagar. He requested to get a cup of water that was granted. When the cup was filled the water of the lake got dried up miraculously. People requested to return the water, the saint gracefully did so. Since then Moinuddin Chishti got multitude of followers.
